PRE-ALGEBRA

Learning Objectives
Work Habits – Throughout the quarter, you should

1. learn to extract concepts and techniques from the textbook,
2. be able to stay focused on and complete tasks requiring multiple steps or several minutes, and
3. take greater responsibility for your own learning (set aside enough time to learn the material, prepare for class ,
attend class regularly, and evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses and take steps to improve).

Mental Habits – Throughout the quarter, you should develop your ability to
1. avoid typographical errors ( like incorrectly copying numbers , forgetting to carry symbols from step to step, etc.),
2. follow all parts of directions without needing additional reminders,
3. recognize patterns (or deviations from previously learned patterns) in math and your own habits, and
4. apply mathematical knowledge to new situations or analyze why some concepts and techniques are valid.
