A rectangular patio has a length of x + 6 m, a width of x + 8 m and a total area of 400 m2. Find the dimensions to the nearest tenth.

Solution:-

Area of rectangle=Length*Width.

400=(x+6)(x+8)

400=x^2+14x+48

x^2+14x-352=0

x=13.3

So, Dimensions are,

Length=13.3+6=19.3 m

Width=13.3+8=21.3 m
